Of green color and the crescent...

credit for this awesome pic goes to Illusionfs

So the Azadi fever is here....this is one month where most of us suddenly become as Pakistani as it could get...which is not a bad thing really! The road side flag, badge, jhandiyan and other Inden day knick knacks are back on their annual spots. Patriotic tunes are blaring on the decks on these stalls as well as on the radio stations doing special Indep day progs. All this takes me a few years back......

.......The year was 1995, I had the biggest flag in the school crowd. Man was I proud!

.......The year was 1997, the month was august......and the whole school was gripped by the Jashan-e-Azaadi fervour. the high point of it all was the final prize which went to the best tableu, skit, song, etc etc. Our class practised literally day in and day out for a tablue on one of Iqbal's poems....but in the end we lost to section 'B'. Arrghh

.........The year was 1998, the best performance award went to the junior section for an absolutely well-done performance on Junaid Jamshed's hit 'Molaa'. We lost again *sigh*

.......We finally one the award in O levels....the irony is that i forgot the song we performed on :S

I guess the josh kinda dies down with age. How could i forget that soooong? heck! i'll call up a few frends just to refresh it up. Khair, i have a few pics of those 14th of August functions from school.......can't believe we've grown up so much now. Oh and how can i forget going out with dad every year to see the 'lights'? and oohing and aaahing over Habib Bank Palaza, the Supereme Court building, the civic centre, the five star hotel....that was undoubtedly the best part of the day....going on the 'battiyan dekhne wali' excursion and ending it with a nice roadside dinner. *sigh*

do people still go out for such things? dunno....we grew out of the practice a couple of years back when the traffic grew too messy and there were security issues on the nation's birthday too.

PS: the font is green in honor of the day, the least i could do :-D
