WHY oh why do our elders still think of higher education for girls as a mere time pass until they are shooed away to their prince charming and what not!!! Why is it that every girl is made to think as marriage their only salvation?? No wonder then that most of the girls I meet at uni are too busy in ‘other’ stuff apart from their studies. Two of my closest friends at uni have now said goodbye to studies just becuz they consider it a mere waste of time! Afterall once they marry it would be of no use (interestingly, there is nothing such as ‘intellectual grooming’ in our society for girls) and ironically no one pays attention to the fact that a marriage is not a fairy story with a happily-ever-after ending.
Its understood by default that a wife has to be docile, suppress her feelings, and carry on with the traditional role of child bearing and upbringing and home management. I am not denying the importance of these all what I mean is that education-higher education to be specific, plays an extremely important role in shaping the intellect of any individual regardless of their sex!

If that’s what a ‘masgriqi’ shaadi entails, then my parents would have to be disappointed in me!
